San Saba High School and San Saba Junior High School officially began summer football workouts on Monday morning as the Dillos look ahead to the 2022 season. Throughout June and July, the Dillos’ high school players will practice 7:30-9 a.m. Monday through Thursday while the junior high kids will go 8-9 a.m. on the same days. Like the Dillos had the first week of June off, they will also have the first week of July entirely off from practice. As for the high school players, they had their first 7-on-7 scrimmages down at Johnson City High School completed on Monday night. The Dillos will have three more 7-on-7 matchups this June down at nearby Llano High School: 6 p.m. on June 15, 6 p.m. on June 20, and 6 p.m. on June 27 to close out the month. San Saba varsity football under head coach Andreas Aguirre will return to pads and helmets in August with a road scrimmage on August 12 at Rio Vista High School, another scrimmage at home on August 19 vs. Comanche High School, and the regular-season opener at home on August 26 vs. Florence High School. Be sure to check out next week’s edition of the San Saba News & Star for more updates on Dillos and Lady Dillos varsity athletics.
