Dillos Baseball unveils 2022 schedule

The San Saba High School varsity baseball team is about only one month away from starting live action as the Armadillos recently unveiled their 2022 schedule.

Once February rolls around, the Dillos will have five scrimmages prior to the start of their 2022 regular-season slate: 12 p.m. on February 5 at Thrall High School, 5 p.m. on February 8 at Florence High School, 11 a.m. on February 12 at Central Texas Christian School in Temple, 5 p.m. on February 15 hosting Cisco High School, and 3 p.m. on February 19 against Breckenridge High School at neutral site Bangs.

The Dillos’ regular-season home opener will be at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, hosting Central Texas Christian and then San Saba will take part in its first tournament of 2022 on February 24-25 at Brady High School. San Saba will play four games over the span of two days: 10:15 a.m. on February 24 vs. Mason High School, 12:30 p.m. on February 24 vs. Brady, 2:45 p.m. on February 25 vs. Hamilton High School, and 5 p.m. on February 25 vs. Bruni High School.

After the Dillos play a road game at 5 p.m. on March 1 at Hamilton, the Dillos will return home on March 3 to host the San Saba Tournament with Hico High School, San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy, and Llano High School Junior Varsity in attendance.

Following a road doubleheader on March 11 against Sonora High School, the Dillos will return to San Saba for three straight home games: 12 p.m. on March 12 hosting rival Goldthwaite High School as well as at home on 8 p.m. on March 15 and March 17 vs. Austin Waves.

In hopes of returning to the playoffs with a majority of its players from last season’s team being on the roster, San Saba will have the following District 29-2A schedule: 5 p.m. on March 22 hosting Center Point High School, 6:30 p.m. on March 25 at Johnson City High School, 6:30 p.m. on March 29 hosting Mason, 5 p.m. on April 1 hosting Junction High School, 6:30 p.m. on April 5 at Harper High School, 5 p.m. on April 11 at Center Point, 6:30 p.m. on April 14 hosting Johnson City, 7 p.m. on April 19 at Mason, 5 p.m. on April 22 at Junction, and 6:30 p.m. on April 26 hosting Harper for the Dillos’ annual Senior Night game. All opponents and games listed are still subject to change based on COVID and weather status.
