William B. Travis Letter returns to the Alamo

Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham M.D. encourages Texans to view the original Travis Letter written by William B. Travis at the Alamo. He addressed his letter “To the People of Texas and All Americans in the World" and passionately pleaded for aid for the Alamo garrison.

This incredible piece of Texan and American history will be displayed at the Alamo Exhibit at the Ralston Family Collections Center from February 23 through March 24, 2024. The Texas State Library and Archives Commission has loaned the Travis Letter to the Alamo.

“I’m thrilled to announce the return of the historic letter by William B. Travis to the Alamo. This marks only its second display since the original battle in 1836. It’s an honor to play such a significant part in sharing this iconic piece of history with the world," said Commissioner Buckingham. "This unique exhibit will allow Texans and people from across the nation to experience an iconic part of Texas and American history. For over 180 years, the Travis Letter has helped tell the story of the Alamo defenders who courageously faced insurmountable odds in the name of freedom."
