Catching up with the Commissioners

Commissioners Court meetings are open to the public. They meet at least twice a month.

After Judge Jody Fauley calls the meetings to order, he or one of the commissioners lead everyone in an opening prayer and in the pledges to the American flag and the Texas flag.

At this point in the meetings, there is an Audience For Concerned Citizens For Public Comment. Anyone is allowed to address the court during this time. There is a five-minute limit per issue.

At the January 3, 2024, Commissioner's Court meeting, Mrs. Blankenship, Human Resources Representative for the Texas Association of Counties, introduced herself to the Court. She informed them that she is there for elected officials and County employees. It was announced that she will hold a February 6th training at 1:30 p.m. in the District Courtroom for department heads for anyone interested.

The following special action items were approved:

• Order for disbursement of salaries and routine office expenses

• TxDOT County Assistance Program allotment for $14,793 for 2023 surplus material on hand for San Saba County

• Conservation contract for Mike and Becky Smith and precinct 3. They are paying the county to come and pave their private road.

• Approval to join TIPS to move forward with It support which costs nothing cost to join.

• Two line-item transfers which were presented by County Treasurer Lois VanBeck.

• Accounts payable with a couple of rejections.

• Minutes from previous commissioners Court meetings.

The following County Official and Departmental Reports were approved:

• County / District Clerk's Report subject to audit - they are busy with the election.

• County Treasurer's Report subject to audit.

• County Justice of the Peace report subject to audit. (The following information was submitted for December 2023: Total - $9,322.60, Community Service / Jail Credit - $2,403.60, Total To The County - $4,223.16, Small Claims And Civil $270.00

• County Sheriff And Jail Report subject to audit - jail report total was 703 with an average of 22.6 days After discussion, possibility of taking action for a public notice for a cancellation of a subdivision was tabled.

Burn Ban was tabled. Burn Ban as it was lifted October 26, 2023.

Item number five pertaining to direct deposit dates in September 2024 was taken off the agenda as no action by the court was needed.

Next commissioners Court dates were set for January 16, 2024, February 5, 2024, and February 26, 2024.

November 7th, 2023, constitutional amendment election returns canvas by the court.

Jeffrey Carlson presented 2024 primary update on new laws, procedures, regulations and polling places for 2024 elections.

November 27, 2023

The following items were approved: * Inter Local agreement between Hill country Transit Services and San Saba County.

* Donation for Courthouse Christmas lights from Linda Parks for $500.

* Accounts Payable. (There were no lot of transfers requested.)

County Burn Ban lifted as of October 26, 2023.

December 11, 2023

Audience for concerned citizens: Tyler Broad, a property owner at Deep Creek at Pontotoc, address the Court concerning Hilltop Subdivision and concerns over water supply and water wells that were affected.

The following items were approved by the Court:

• Minutes of previous meetings.

• Appointment of Board Members for Region K Greg Mc-Gregor, Kenley Kroll alternate, HCCAA and add Kenley Kroll Hill Country Transit and Greg McGregor, alternate.

•Authorizing the County Treasurer to pay On-Line Fuel Web-ex with Sign-off of each Elected Official's approval of purchase.

• Line-Item Transfers as presented by County Treasurer Lois VanBeck.

• Accounts payable. The following departmental reports were approved subject to audit:

• County and District Clerk's reports.

• County Treasurer's report

• County sheriff and jail report

• County's Justice of the Peace report (Total - $9,083.90, Community Service / Jail Credit - $300, Total To The County $5,183.61, Small Claims And Civil - 924.00.)
