Survey reveals 1 in 4 Texans met their neighbor for first time during lockdown

A friend in need… While lockdown appears to have improved our communication with our loved ones – and neighbors – there is no doubt about the economic hardship many are facing during this time. It seems we are a country full of good Samaritans as the average American revealed they would lend their neighbor in need a significant $167. Texans would lend $192.59 to their neighbor.

Conversely, the survey also found that over 1 in 10 (15%) respondents say they would, in fact, reach out to their neighbor for financial help in desperate times.

A promising, heartwarming statistic to emerge from this study was that a majority of Americans are even generous enough to house a neighbor in need – 77% say they would volunteer to temporarily house their neighbor if they had nowhere else to stay.

“Despite being physically separated from people we care about, a sense of community support is more important now than ever, which includes being there for your neighbor in times of need,” says Sam Allcock for “Having the support of a friendly neighbor can be extremely helpful in trying circumstances.”
