SSHS Band finishes season with strong Area performance

The San Saba Golden Armadillo Band recently traveled to Whitney High School to compete in the UIL Area D Marching Contest. The band finished 11th out of 24 bands. The students persevered through a season of uncertainty to give their very best performance of the year at the Area level. We are so proud of what they accomplished and look forward to what the future holds for the program.

This year’s program was entitled "Looking Grimm" by Jason Nitsch and was based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. The first scene of the show was Hansel and Gretel. The second scene was Sleeping Beauty and featured flute soloist Kristi Macias and color guard soloist Leslie Aguirre. The final scene was Little Red Riding Hood which featured solos by Jose Aguilera on saxophone and Virginia Diaz on clarinet. The band was under the field command of sophomore drum majors Madison Shahan and Kristi Macias, and junior drum major Kaylee Eidson. Directors of the band are Chans and Misty Moellendorf.

The San Saba Golden Armadillo Band would like to thank the San Saba ISD staff, band parents, band boosters and the community of San Saba for their unwavering support in helping us continue to make music during this year's pandemic.
