The local Rotary Club of San Saba will hold its 43rd annual Honor Student Banquet to recognize academically high-achieving students from Cherokee, Richland Springs, and San Saba ISDs. All recognized students and their parents will be invited to attend May 15, 2025, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the San Saba Civic Center.
This year's banquet speaker will be Pastor Judy Swarts who serves as the Senior Pastor at First Methodist Church of San Saba. Before coming to San Saba, she served at First Methodist Church of Menard. As a result of a lifelong passion for ministry, Judy has served many churches in the surrounding area. She is an ordained Deacon in the Global Methodist Church and has recently been accepted to Asbury Theological Seminary to complete her certification of divinity and will be ordained an Elder in the spring of 2025. For over 33 years, Judy has dedicated her life to serving God in the ministry setting. Her husband, Rick, is her ministry partner. Pastor Judy and Rick find it to be an incredibly moving experience to share the unwavering love of God with people of all ages. It is her great honor to be able to serve the beautiful town of San Saba, Texas.

The Annual Honor Student Banquet is San Saba Rotary’s Signature Event of the Year, and we look forward to honoring San Saba County’s best and brightest students. This year we plan to award a total of $21,750.00 in scholarships. This includes $3,000.00 in Scholarships to students seeking a degree in the medical field thanks to our EMS Endowment fund, and $18,750.00 in scholarships to our Four Year Honor Students who exemplify high academic standards, good character and need. These scholarships are made possible thanks to the many sponsors of our annual Golf Tournament held in the fall.
