On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, Silvestre Barco, a dedicated member of St. Mary’s parish family, was honored with the Lumen Gentium Award, (in Latin means “Light of the Nations”), presented by the Diocese of Austin during a special ceremony held at the Frank Mayborn Convention Center in Temple, Texas. This prestigious recognition is awarded to individuals throughout the Austin Diocese who exemplify faithful service, stewardship, and leadership in living out the mission of Christ within their parish and community.
Silvestre was recognized along with 87 other recipients representing the 127 parishes throughout the Diocese of Austin. This award reflects years of dedication, unwavering faith, and a servant's heart that has positively impacted St. Marys’s parish and those around him.
Joining him for this memorable occasion were family members, friends, and fellow church members whose presence made the celebration even more meaningful. Their support was a beautiful reminder of the strong faith community that surrounds and encourages one another.
