Scenic Texas applauds the passage of Senate Bill 941, the Texas Scenic Byways Bill, by Senator Dawn Buckingham (R-Lakeway), by a vote of the Texas Senate of 30-1 and urges the House to pass House Bill 1908 by Representative Eddie Morales (D-Eagle Pass).

Both bills create a statewide Scenic Byways Program in Texas. The National Scenic Byways Program is a voluntary, community-based program administered through the Federal Highway Administration to recognize, protect, and promote America's most outstanding roads.

"Texas is the only state in the nation that does not have its own program and does not benefit from the federal dollars associated with the national program," said Sarah Tober, Scenic Texas executive director.
