San Saba Rotary Club to award $18,000 in Scholarships at the Annual Honor Student Banquet

The local Rotary Club of San Saba will hold its 42nd annual Honor Student Banquet to recognize academically high-achieving students from Cherokee, Richland Springs, and San Saba ISDs. All recognized students and their parents will be invited to attend on May,16th 2024, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the San Saba Civic Center.

This year's banquet speaker will be Robert Baugh, Spiritual Life Minister at Cherokee Home for Children. Robert is 55 years old and was born in El Paso, Texas. He has been married for 29 years to Vickie Baugh, and they have two children: a daughter, Brissa Baugh, who is a Sophomore at Abilene Christian University, and a son, Gunner Baugh, who is a Senior at Cherokee and plans to attend TSTC in Waco. Robert has served in Youth and Family Ministry for the past 27 years. His priorities are: 1st a Passion for God, 2nd a Passion for family, 3rd a Call to Serve, and 4th All things outdoors.

The Annual Honor Student Banquet is San Saba Rotary’s Signature Event of the Year, and we look forward to honoring San Saba County’s best and brightest students. This year we plan to award a total of $18,000.00 in scholarships. This includes $3,000.00 in Scholarships to students seeking a degree in the medical field thanks to our EMS Endowment fund, and $15,0000.00 in scholarships to our four-year honor students who exemplify high academic standards, good character and need.These scholarships are made possible thanks to the many sponsors of our annual Golf Tournament held in the Fall.
