San Saba Masonic played host to its family and members on Saturday, April 3rd, to a crowd of 62 people. A meal of catfish was provided by Richard Smith and was prepared by Joe Ragsdale, Leslie Hammett & Roger Verette. The purpose of the occasion was to present the annual service awards.

Recognized for 25-year service were Stephen C. Brister and Roger Zane McGehee. A 40-year award was presented to Earl Ray Sutton, a dual member of San Saba Lodge and Mount Hiram Lodge No. 595 of Copperas Cove. Representing No. 595 was Worshipful Master Darrell D. McDonald.

Two Endowed Memberships were recognized: Stephen C. Brister and Carl Bryant (deceased) obtained in his memory by Lamar Johanson.

Two 50-year awards were presented to Olen Burt Holland and Billy Don Edmondson. Representing the Grand Lodge of Texas was Marvin Dale "Buddy" Williams, District Deputy Grand Master of District No. 70.

After the open portion of the program, Lodge was opened for a stated meeting in which the District Deputy was received. A degree team was assembled for work in the Master's Degree, and a practice schedule was set for Friday - April 16th, and Friday - April 23rd, both at 9:00 a.m. A degree will be conferred on Friday Morning, April 30th, at 9:00 a.m. The stated meeting will be Saturday, May 1st, where a second MM degree will be conferred.

The public is reminded that San Saba Lodge and American Legion Post No. 27 provides a community drop box for the purpose of collecting and retiring old and worn flags. The box is located between the library and police department across from the courthouse.
