The Richland Springs Alumni Association Banquet, a cherished community tradition created by Superintendent Noble W. Prentice in 1926, proudly celebrates its 100th Anniversary this year. For a full century, this annual gathering has brought generations of Coyotes together in fellowship, reflection, and celebration.
Held each year on the Saturday before Mother’s Day in the historic Richland Springs Gymnasium, the banquet serves as a reunion for former students and staff alike. Unique in its spirit, anyone who attended Richland Springs— even for a short time—or was ever employed by the school is considered Alumni and is always welcome.
Each year, “Honor Classes” are recognized based on the ending number of the current year, ensuring every graduating class is celebrated over time. The evening begins with a time of visitation, followed by a shared meal and a meaningful program.
A special portion of the program is dedicated to remembering Alumni who have passed away since the previous banquet, honoring their lives and lasting connection to the school. Representatives from each Honor Class also recognize classmates and their families, both those in attendance and those remembered.
While many schools host reunions, the Richland Springs Alumni Banquet is believed to be one of the only events of its kind in Texas that annually brings together former students and faculty in one unified celebration.
Over the years, Alumni have traveled hundreds—and even thousands—of miles to return home for this occasion, a testament to the enduring bond formed within the Richland Springs community.
As it marks this historic 100th Anniversary, the banquet stands as more than a gathering— it is a celebration of heritage, tradition, and the lasting spirit of the Coyote Nation.
