Our guest speaker was Sarah Griess, daughter of Tom and Beth Griess of Lometa. Sarah lives in the Dallas area with 2 young boys enrolled in the public school system of Southlake Carroll.
Inspired by the experiences of her two young sons, Sarah has joined other concerned parents who are lobbying the State of Texas to increase the minimum times of recess for primary students. She initiated the first chapter of “ Say Yes to Recess” in the State. She found the school administrators extremely receptive to ideas for improvement. The Administration directed her to other parents who have similar goals as well as a professor at TCU who has researched physical activity and its link to increased attention.
