The main news for this week in town has been the Convoy of Hope summer feeding program. The first step was to meet at the San Saba Civic Center and load up pallets of canned goods and other non-perishables. There were multiple church organizations lined up to load up flatbed trailers and trucks. Despite the massive amount of food, all went well. Our drivers were Rob Brockman, Kendra Oldham, and Debbie Phelan. Once we arrived at the church, all food had to be moved into the storage room. William, Lucas and Kathleen Oldham helped unload and sort. Thankfully, several football boys came over after practice and helped move the remainder of the food indoors. They were a blessing. The following day, we sorted food into bags and prepared for the pickup day on Saturday. Although I had to be out of town, Lynn Reeves and Joe Baucom filled my shoes and helped distribute the food to 46 children. There will be another distribution day at the church next Saturday. Please, if you have students in San Saba country and in our school, these shelf stable goods were donated for our school children. The Convoy of Hope has been such a blessing during this time of economic stress. Please come by and be a part of this distribution from the Convoy of Hope.
The Men’s Prayer Breakfast at the Tabernacle in Richland was well attended. As usual, the men cooked up a great breakfast. Don Faucett presented the message. I don’t think you can beat a group of men meeting together to fellowship and share God’s word. Fred Overstreet told me that about 26 attendees. This event is open to all men and boys in the area. Why not join them next month?
The football boys are off at football camp this week. I pray they deepen their understanding of their sport and bond together as a team. They have all new coaches this year, so it will be a learning time on several levels. Good luck and God bless. The girls sports program will also have new coaches. This coming year will be an exciting season for sports in Richland Springs. Coyotes fight…never die.
It’s time for VBS! We welcome all children from Pre-K 3 to 5th. Please come - the dates are June 22-25th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Volunteers are welcome to come and assist. Our theme this year is the Emerald Isle.
Please pray for the Adams family as they mourn the passing of Bobbie Ruth. The visitation will be at Blaylock Funeral home in San Saba on Tuesday from 1-2 p.m., and the funeral will be at the Christian Church from 2-3 p.m. Our hearts go out to the family on their loss.
Please pray for our country, for the war in Iran, for our President and the Congress. Pray for the unrest and civil disobedience that seems to be plaguing our larger cities. We need restoration of civility and honesty in our country. Pray for our peace officers and agents who face harassment every day. Most of all, we pray for our precious troops and their families.
