Welcome to 2026, everyone. Each of us will enter this new year with different attitudes. Some will be facing serious health issues or the loss of a loved one, and others will have clear-cut goals to improve their daily journey. Whatever your outlook, 2026 is here and only God knows what lies ahead for us. I intend to take it day by day with God’s help.
Several people in the area are varmint hunting. The coyotes around here have grown in numbers, and my neighbor said his camera caught a herd of 30 to 40 hogs crossing from my pasture into his. The other night, I was positive they were in my front pasture. Fortunately, we have some young hunters bringing down their numbers. I was sent a photo of Dalton Moats and Trendon Vogel displaying their handiwork.
Keep up the excellent work.
The end of the year football awards have been posted the last two weeks, and it makes my heart proud to see the accolades our young men received. There is not time for them to rest on their accomplishments because they go straight into basketball. In a small school, all athletes tend to play multiple sports. In a month or so, we will start golf and tennis, as well as track. We like to keep our students busy.
I’ve been helping my daughter Chrissy to tear down her Chrissy’s Plants building and repair and reimagine her new concept. I’ve been doing some science experiments with her new line of natural pest control. Apparently, mice like the wiring on my electric lawn mower. I’m going to build on the pest control by bringing in some cats. I have three electric vehicles on the property, and the mice are having a field day feasting on my wiring.
There will be a Men’s Prayer Breakfast next Saturday at the Tabernacle. Breakfast will be served at 7:00 am. Guest speaker will be Don Faucett. Keep your eyes posted for the basketball schedules. They should be posted next week.
The Richland Springs Preservation Society will have their first community luncheon of the year on Sunday, January 25th. Please come and join us. What better way to spend a Sunday, tasty food, good friends, and visits with folks that you don’t get to see often. Plus, it helps with the building repair. We’re getting ready to order more windows. It’s really an exciting time for this beautiful old building. She just needs some help.
Please pray for our school as we enter the new year facing financial issues that will be overcome but will be painful for many of our staff. We have a magnificent group of teachers who are willing to take pay cuts so that our school can recover and continue. Coyotes fight… never die.
Please pray for our country, our wounded officers around the country, our government system, and the wars around the world. Our area needs rain urgently. We received no measurable rain in December. Have a blessed 2025, but most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families.
