Merry Christmas everyone. It’s Sunday evening and I’ve just kissed the last one goodbye and peace is settling in the house. The kid and grandkids had an exciting time filling up on goodies then following up their meal with a nice long walk around the property. I wish there was one of them that would live on this property after we’re gone, but I don’t see it. There doesn’t seem to be the reverence for ownership of land that our ancestors had. I see that happening every day. The old folks passing on and the land being sold almost immediately. It’s sad, but that’s the way it is today. All the jobs and entertainments are in bigger towns.
Christmas is here and once again we are reminded that our God lowered himself to live as a human and suffer so that we could have a chance at eternity. Commercialism pushes itself forward, but nothing silences the message of hope that the birth of a tiny babe brought.
Last Thursday, I attended the championship game in Jerry’s World. It was an exhilarating experience. I’m so proud of our boys. I watched Lane Ward show everyone how to catch a pass right on the sideline with only his toes keeping the ball in play. I watched Cohen Ethridge pass, catch and tackle his way through to the last play of the game. Eli , Billy, Rush, Ethan, Brice, and every player on the team played every play to win. Evan went one step further and tried to catch an uncatchable pass that left him with a broken arm. I can’t say enough a but this team of young men. Stand tall Coyotes, you are formidable.
I’m sure the recent school news has travelled through the community. Due to a shortage of funds in the school account, salaries and stipends have been cut for the year. In recent years new buses and vehicles have been purchased, and healthy pay raises granted by the legislature, but not subsidized by the government, have left our bank balance on the low side. Our administration and the school board members are working diligently to correct our ledger balance. This will cause a temporary pinch in some households, but I’m confident all will be repaired. Please pray for our teachers. If any alumni would like to donate and help the bank balance, I’m sure the school would be glad to receive your benevolence.
As we share in the many blessings this country affords, please remember those families who have lost loved ones recently. Pray for our country, world peace and peace and civility in our country. Reach out to your neighbors and spread cheer wherever you go. Have a blest Christmas everyone.
