Finally, the big day is here. Come out to Richland Springs and join the hundreds of people who are going to visit close to one hundred vendors at the Feed Lot and downtown. Jason Lewis has gone to great lengths to make this a gigantic event with the hope that it will generate enough revenue to help put the Old Bank Building back on its feet. I hope to see everyone there.
The tennis regionals will be held on the 12-13 of April. We wish our athletes the best of luck. Track season is in full swing for junior high and high school. The area track meet is next week. So far, they are doing very well. UIL academic advancements are being held next week. Good luck to our many students who are advancing. Mrs. Starr tells me K-8 will take spring pictures and individuals this week as well. Notes will be going home.
I’m excited my new raised beds are complete, they have healthy plants growing, and I have most of the weeding complete. Russ installed the watering system. My potatoes look great, and I even have cute little banana peppers growing. I have lemons on my lemon trees.
Now, if we can just get some rain. I know a few farmer/ ranchers who have sprigged their pastures with coastal who desperately need rain for the sprigs to make. The radar shows rain coming in our direction this week. I hope it doesn’t break up before it gets here. I also saw that there are three days of showers forecasted for next week.
Praise God for the coming rain.
Wednesday Kid’s Church will continue for the month of April, but May is always such a busy school month that holding church right after school gets tricky. It will also give the volunteers a rest and time to plan for the summer and next year. We will be having VBS hopefully in June. We are also changing the pickup a little. The kids will go to the park for the last 15 minutes, and parents can pick them up at the park. This will be a safer method than a big parking lot with cars coming from all directions.
Churches around the world celebrated the resurrection of Jesus on Sunday. This is an important event. Had the resurrection not happened, there would be no Christianity. That fact that He rose again makes the promise of life after death a surety. Praise God for this precious gift. After service this week, the kids at First Baptist and some from the community went to the park and collected baskets full of eggs.
Jessica Starr told me there were around 500 eggs. Sorry parents, you took home way too much candy, but it was so much fun. Thank you to all the church members who donated eggs.
Prayers are important. I was told Richard Maultsby is doing better.
Jill Gladd, Jean McKee, Sheila Johnson, Les Hammett, and many others in our community are in poor health. Please keep them in your prayers.
My new great- grandson Milles Moss is having issues. My grandson Dustyn will have to have knee surgery after he blew his knee out playing soccer. He will have to remain quiet for three months while his ligaments reattach, and no sports for nine months. So many prayers are needed.
Pray for our country, our President and Congress and the lawlessness that seems to be sweeping the country. Our law enforcement need our prayers and support, and our border needs to be closed. Most of all pray for our precious troops and their families. Have a blessed week.
