State Representative David Spiller (Jacksboro) filed House Bill 141 which strengthens criminal trespass penalties for individuals who blatantly avoid federal or state law enforcement checkpoints along the southern border.
"The influx of arrests at our border has overwhelmed local justice systems. With limited jurisdiction over federal immigration law, Texas law enforcement and prosecutors need additional legal tools to protect citizens from the increased criminal activity at the border," explained Representative Spiller.
This bill will provide further legal avenues for Texas to utilize in order to effectively reduce the number of individuals who enter our state illegally. "While the Biden Administration fails to secure our border, Texas will continue to step-up," said Representative Spiller.
