The Pierian Study Club met November 11, 2021, at the beautiful home of member Jacqueline Carlson. The Nominating Committee, composed of Loy Nell Behrens, Chairman, Susan Cark, Jacqueline Carlson, and Donna Baker, were hostesses for the meeting.

Other attendees at the meeting were Anita Adams, Marjean Alexander, Donna Baker, Loy Nell Behrens, Celia Bell, Gail Bruner, Jacqueline Carlson, Kathleen Hawkins, Karen Henson, Gale Ivy, Shelly Mahan, Kathy McEwin, Leah Oehrlein, Cydney Pearce, Sherry Ruddick, Debbie Shahan, Marsha Smart, Audrey Smith, Sandy Smith, Kay Stowell, Cissy Williams, and new member Rene McBee.

A very informative program was presented by Marian Deans of Elara Caring, a skilled home health company. Marian is a licensed Master Social Worker who graduated from St. Edwards University. She began her career 14 years ago working in home health for Brady Health Care Services, now known as Elara.

In her position with Elara Caring, she acts as a liaison between the Home Health Company and doctors, hospitals and the patients. Elara Caring offers the following specialties: Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Medical Social work and Home Health Aide.

The theme for the meeting today was patriotic red, white and blue to honor Veterans Day. Members were served a white chocolate soufflé with blue berries and cranberries along with toasted mixed nuts. A red cranberry punch along with water was also served.

Since both the President and First Vice President were absent, Shelly Mahan, Second Vice President chaired the meeting.

The Club Connect was led by Loy Nell Behrens.

Kathleen Hawkins, Treasurer, reported that several memorials had been made to Bebe Bagley.

Committee reports were heard from Projects, Membership and Entertainment.

Kathleen Hawkins, Membership Chairman, introduced new member Rene McBee. She also mentioned that a mistake had been made in removing Vicki Stevenson from an active member to a nonmember. She had meant to be moved to an Associate Member instead. This change will be made, and Vicki will be contacted to explain what happened.

Anita Adams also had written a note asking to be moved to an Associate Member.

Members were invited to select an angel from the Angel Tree to provide a Christmas present to a child in the community. Please bring your gift, unwrapped, to the Christmas Party.

A Christmas Adventure in San Saba will be held on December 9. Members are to meet at the Hotel San Saba for a tour of local businesses.
