The Pierian Club held its final meeting of the year in May at One22 on the Square. A delicious Italian dinner was served to members and their guests by the Entertainment Committee. The committee is composed of Leah Oehrlein (chair), Marjean Alexander, Jacqueline Carlson, Marcia Dyer, Tracy Farley, Rhonda Killion, Kathy McEwin, and Mary Margaret Moorhead.

One of the last acts for the meeting year was to award scholarships to three deserving San Saba County high school graduates. Madison Shahan and Julia Smith from San Saba and Tyler Grant from Richland Springs each received a $1000 scholarship. Madison is valedictorian of her class and plans to major in architectural engineering at the University of Texas. Julia will be attending Tarleton State University and will pursue a degree in music. Tyler plans to obtain a degree in psychology and then become a Substance Abuse and Behavioral Disorder Counselor. Pierian wishes only the best for these three distinguished students.

Although the meeting year is technically over, there are two committees that are busy during the summer months. The Yearbook Committee spends many hours planning programs for the upcoming year. The Entertainment Committee also considers possible sites for the club's annual parties. The first meeting of the 2023 year will be a brunch on Thursday, September 14, at which time members will be informed of the programs for the year.
