Body

ClearView Family Resources is a Christian based non-profit resource center with a goal of helping families in San Saba and surrounding areas. Their mission: To provide a ClearView of pro-family, prolife, and pro-community thus helping the local communities grow healthy individuals and families. It will be a place to find support, without judgement, through education, provision, and direction.

ClearView has a goal of opening their doors 2023. Hours will be determined closer to the center's opening, but they hope to be open late one day a week. They will be housed in a very familiar building - the old hospital building, and more recently, the previous location of the Baylor Scott & White Clinic.

I had the privilege to sit down with the Executive Director of ClearView Family Resources, Maranda Cox, and she was gracious enough to share information with me including how the vision for the venture started, how it works, and where they are now in the planning stages.

Medical Personnel

ClearView is affiliated through Heartbeat International. They will have the hours of our Center and will have an option line available to Clear-View clients when the Center is closed. Their phone service has trainer professionals who can help you and can connect you to a nurse when needed.

Mrs. Cox is an RN and will be on site. She recently returned from New Director Training through Heartbeat International. Dr. Craig Whiting will be the Medical Director of the Center, and Mrs. Cox will be working under his license. She will be the Executive Director at ClearView and is very excited about what is ahead for ClearView and how they can help the community.

Free Pregnancy Testing

The Center will provide free pregnancy testing. No qualifications are necessary, no Medicaid, no insurance. You don't even have to live in the county. Anybody who walks through the doors will be eligible for a free pregnancy test. Appointments are preferred, but they will take walk-ins as time permits.

ClearView is not a medical facility; it is a resource center. They will have a list of OB/ GYN physicians for different cities so their clients can choose their own doctor if they need one. They will also call and schedule an appointment for the client if needed.

Education

The Center will provide education on a variety of family issues from Parenting to Family finances through Bright-Course. For more information on BrightCourse, go to their website: www.brightcourse. com.

There will be educational videos that you can watch at home or on your phone, or you can come into the center where there will be client rooms available for you to use to watch the educational videos. There is a test at the end of each video. You earn credits with the educational videos, and then you can shop at the Baby Boutique with your earned credits. There are different levels of education including pregnancy, parenting, life skills, and even love and fatherhood.

Baby Boutique

The Baby Boutique has all brand new items including clothes (NB to 5T), diapers, wipes, baby sheets, blankets, burp clothes, pacifiers, bath items such as soap, and much more. They have some equipment but no car seats. They also have toys, towels and wash clothes. They have many kinds non-perishable items. Items at the Baby Boutique items can only be purchased with pointed earned through the educational video program at the Center.

The Baby Boutique is stocked through donations. Mrs. Cox said Harry's has donated three giant bags full of clothes, little baby boots, bibs, etc. She noted that the Baby Boutique is pretty well stocked, but they can use more clothes. (Remember, these are new clothes, not used.) They plan to have 'Fill the Crib' at local churches in town to help stock the Boutique. Look for the 'Crib' coming soon and consider donating new items for the Baby Boutique.

Volunteers

Volunteers will be an integral part of ClearView. As the Executive Director, Mrs. Cox will be overseeing all of the volunteers. Here is a list of some of those very important folks:

• Mentors - these will be outside of the Center.

• Client Advocate - meet clients as they come into the center. Administers pregnancy tests, and interacts with the clients.

• Custodial - help take care of the facility.

ClearView Leadership

Ashley McCoury, Clear-View Board President, has volunteered in a pregnancy center in Haskel. Mrs. Cox said she and Mrs. McCoury found out at youth camp last year they had this same passion for families. Mrs. McCoury and Cissy Williams had already been talking about the possibility a pregnancy center in the area even before that. Mrs. Williams is very active in our community, and she will be the Secretary/ Treasurer of the Center. The planning for the center has now been about a year in the making. Mrs. Cox noted it was right after Roe v. Wade was overturned.
