The August 12th City Council meeting again saw a large crowd in attendance. This time, many were interested in flood relief, and some wanted to voice their opinion about it.

The large crowd in attendance got to observe the Presentation for the Employee of the Month award. This month, the award went to Lucas Watson of the Street Department. He was presented with a dedicated plaque with his name on it as well as a gift certificate to a local restaurant.
There were several who had signed up to make a Public Comment at the meeting.
Lupe Trujillo and Rosa Macedo signed up to speak regarding the flood and how it has affected each of them; Tony Jacobs, Jr. signed up to speak up about the July 4th flood; Felicia Sivells signed up to speak about the flood; and Dewey Hulme signed up to speak about Discussion/Action Item No. 2. (See information on that below.)
Consent Agenda Items:
The following Consent Agenda items were unanimously approved: Minutes from the July 8, 2025 Council meeting and Budget Workshop; payment of bills; approved Resolution No. 2025-32 a Resolution to waive an Ordinance defining noise nuisances for Maria Lopez on August 30, 2025 at the Mill Pond Park Gazebo; and approved Resolution No. 2025-33 a Resolution to waive an Ordinance defining noise nuisances for Madison Rambo on September 4th and 5th, 2025 at Risien Park West Slab.
Discussion/Action Items:
The following items were unanimously approved: 1. Resolution No. 2025-34, a Resolution of the City of San Saba, Texas temporarily waiving certain permit fees for construction work related to the repair of structures damaged as a result of the July 4th, 2025 Flood Event; Providing an expiration of the waiver of fees; Providing for a temporary increase in the term a Recreational Vehicle may be used as temporary housing; providing findings of facts; providing an open meetings clause; and providing an effective date.
2. Resolution No. 2025-35, a Resolution of the City of San Saba, Texas in regard to a Finance Contract between the City of San Saba and Government Capital Corporation for the Purpose of Financing a “Vehicle” for the San Saba Police Department.
3. Resolution No. 2025-36, a Resolution of the City of San Saba, Texas in regard to a Finance Contract between the City of San Saba and Government Capital Corporation for the purpose of Financing a “Mower & Sprinkler System”.
At 6:48 p.m., the City Council convened into Executive Session pursuant to Tex. Government Code, Section 551.071, Consultation with Attorney. Marcus Amthor, Mayor Pro-Tem adjourned the Executive Session and reconvened into Open Session at 7:21 p.m. Action taken: Increasing the amount for Dispatcher Services to $107,509.44 was unanimously approved.
City Manager's Report:
City Manager Scott Edmonson stated there have been numerous meetings with FEMA and TDEM regarding Streets, Parks, and the Golf Course.
As there were no other Departmental Report given at this meeting, the meeting adjourned at 7:26 p.m.
The next City Council meeting will be held September 9th, at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 303 S. Clear.
