"Keep doing this in remembrance of me"
You may have received a letter or phone call from Jehovah’s Witnesses recently with an invitation to a memorial of Jesus’s death, which has been solemnly observed each spring by this Christian religion. This year’s memorial is slated for Saturday, March 2nd, beginning at sundown and will be held virtually worldwide.
The Llano congregation invites San Saba to attend via Zoom. The program will last about 40 minutes.
Each household prepares emblems of unfermented bread and red wine to pass at the indicated time during the memorial. A prayer is said for each emblem. The memorial is also referred to as the Lord’s Evening Meal or the Last Supper.
“Attending this event will not only strengthen a person’s relationship with their creator, Jehovah God, and his son, Christ Jesus, but it also reminds us that by giving his Son as a ransom for us, God has a huge interest in mankind. That thought is comforting considering how many challenges we face today,” said Justin Browning of the Llano Congregation.
The event is free, and Zoom credentials can be obtained by asking any Jehovah’s Witness or calling Browning at (830) 613-8073. The program is also available in Spanish.
Since late February 2020, Witnesses have moved all religious activities online.
The congregation’s publishers have also continued preaching by phone and letter, following a mandate found in Matthew 24:14 to preach "good news of the Kingdom."
The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses is located at 305 W. Dallas St. in Llano, TX. The official website is <jw.org>.
