Keep San Saba Beautiful (KSSB) holds semi-annual citywide cleanups each year: one in the spring in conjunction with the Great American Cleanup (GAC) and the Don’t Mess With Texas (DMWT) Trash Off and another in the Fall for the Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB) Fall Sweep.

For several years, KSSB has partnered with several agencies/ organizations to keep San Saba clean and beautiful, and this year is no exception.

On Saturday, April 13, KSSB will hold the GAC/DMWT Trash Off and is asking for volunteers Registration will be at the County Courthouse under the city tent. Volunteers will go into the community to clean up the parks, waterways, highways, and neighborhoods.

Registered volunteers are provided with free supplies such as trash bags, litter grabbers, gloves, and safety vests; with snacks, water, and lunch; and with an opportunity to win prizes.

The Volunteers, the City of San Saba, the Rotary Club, the Community Service Department, and great sponsors such as Atmos Energy, make these cleanups successful, and we greatly appreciate and thank them.

Atmos Energy has been sponsoring KSSB’s city-wide cleanups for several years. Before COVID, Atmos not only sponsored the cleanup, but sent employee volunteers (sometimes to include their wives and families) to cook the lunch provided for the volunteers. This practice subsided during COVID, but Atmos continues to monetarily sponsor the event.

Leticia Saenz, Atmos Energy’s Manager of Public Affairs, recently presented KSSB with a $500 donation to sponsor the upcoming cleanup. In addition to the check, Saenz also presented the commission with gifts of an Atmos gardening spade with forget-me-not seed packets in commemoration of April as National Safe Digging Month. KSSB gratefully appreciates Atmos and all others supporting their efforts to make this community a cleaner, greener, and a more beautiful community.

KSSB invites you to join Atmos in supporting our cleanup by volunteering on Saturday, April 13, at 8 a.m. at the courthouse.
