Help Hamilton Healthcare System celebrate National Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week March 14th – 20th

Join Hamilton Healthcare System during AACVPR National Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week 2021, March 14 – 20, 2021, to celebrate the benefits pulmonary rehabilitation can provide for patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

COPD stands for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. COPD is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs. The main cause of COPD is smoking, but nonsmokers can get COPD, too. About 85 to 90 percent of all COPD cases are caused by cigarette smoking. Long-term exposure to air pollution, secondhand smoke and dust, fumes, and chemicals (which are often work-related) can cause COPD.

Hamilton Healthcare System’s pulmonary rehabilitation program offers individualized education and exercise sessions tailored for a person’s level of fitness. Patients attend thirtyminute sessions, two-three times per week under staff supervision.
