Gently Knead life more than you Need it!
Well hello there, my San Saba loves! I am so happy to be speaking to you again. I am so sorry for not speaking to you last week; life was a bit scattered and all over the place. I had trouble picking up dust bunnies, let alone my own thoughts. I am so glad, won’t go as far as to say to my head is on straight because I do have such a long nose and a tendency to get bent out of shape.
Speaking of getting bent out of shape, it is my belief when one person gets something to eat in this house, it is common courtesy to offer everyone else in the room a bite to eat, too. I am starting a campaign to teach this lesson to dad. Mom is still eating, but a few times a week; a dachshund could starve to death! Hey, we must go where the supply is, right?
We are having visitors this week, family, and I am very excited. My Lani, Roy and dad’s first wife, Darlene are coming to San Saba. I have met Darlene twice before, and she is a sweetheart and loves me to pieces. She has dachshunds and lots of other dogs, so she really knows how to love on me. I love having company; for me it is like being at a human buffet! I walk along the couch and say…“What kind of hug do I want - freckles, blonde hair, a grumpy old man or a sweet older ex-wife one?” Yeah, and it is fun knowing I can put them all on my plate as many times as I want.
Last Wednesday, dad took two things of brownies to Ray Riggs retirement celebration. Brownies have been a long-standing favorite of Ray’s for many, many years. Mom told me his weakness was chocolate, and so he would come pick the brownies up, smile and say…“I will eat these and then have to spend more time out at the track.” Ray has always been such a good friend to the parentals in the 15 years they have lived here. He is such a wonderful and caring person; we will miss him and wish him the happiest of retirements.
Today is groomer day for me, a trip to Brownwood for dad, and we both hate it. I love you so much, my San Saba dear ones. Life is so sweet; every second of it is a chance to make a memory for when there will be no more chances. I watch mom, and I see enjoy all my moments, silliness, and I see the way she looks at dad and tries so hard to facilitate his happiness. And there is no doubt it is better to leave joy in your wake than a wipe out. Thank you for being.
