Thanks for the Memories
Hey there, my San Saba sweethearts, and how in the world have you been? Haven’t the days been rather lovely? I have been spending some time out in my play area surveying the backyard, watching Rowena and her squirrel gang run around as if they drank way too much coffee, and I love listening to the wonderful birds. Mom says I am a strange little guy though because when I am inside with her, I miss dad, but when I am out in my play area, I miss her. I suppose I give meaning to the phrase ‘family fur baby.’
Speaking of which, I read on my MSN newsfeed where the relationship dogs have with their parentals is much the same as infants have with their parentals. I was not surprised a bit by that tidbit of information. For example, when mom takes me to bed every night, I nestle my head into her neck as she holds me in her arms to carry me from the living room to put me under the covers. Furthermore, when I am frightened, I run to find mom to snuggle next to her just as a child would. Yeah, I am truly my parentals fur baby. And guess what? I love it!
I turned five years old on April 27th, and mom made me a special dinner of chicken livers, broccoli and cauliflower. It is not only one of my favorite things but special because making that stuff turns mom’s stomach. I cannot believe I have lived such an amazing and wonderful life here in San Saba for five years because it seems like a blink of an eye in some ways, but if I judged by how full my heart is, it could be a lifetime, and a very long one. You guys have given me so much in my life here. I will never forget as a tiny pup going to a street dance when mom and I had visitors from out of state here. Oh we had such a great time, and I got to walk all over the beautiful grass at the courthouse and meet so many people! And then there were all the times the parentals and I attended Sip and Stroll and people even recognized me from one year to the next! San Saba is not only where I have lived all my five years, it is the home of my heart and soul.
You know what I discovered? Did you know fruit makes an absolutely delicious snack? Yeah, mom is a big fan of pears and oranges, and now I am, too. At first when she offered me a taste, I looked at her, turned up my dachshund nose as if to say…“Yuck, one of your healthy alternatives to good food!” Then I actually dared to taste. And oh my goodness, pears and oranges are delicious! Mom laughs now and tells me as her mom would have said…she made a stick for her own back because she cannot eat them without me being right in her face begging for bites!
I love sharing life with you, my San Saba friends, just ever so much! I so look forward to my communication with you each week, feeling close to you. You and my life here in San Saba, has made my five years of living so rich, so wonderful and expanded not only my vision of happiness but my heart’s definition of love. Thank you for being!
