Goodbye October

Hello, dear San Saba friends, and how have you been since last we spoke? Well it seems as though a hint of winter has come to visit. Dad loves it as he really cannot tolerate the heat very well, but it makes mom want to hibernate. Of course since all this C-19 stuff, mom has pretty much done nothing but hibernate anyway, so winter shall not affect her much.

I am happy to report my sister’s husband, Roy, came home from the hospital last Thursday. He is on oxygen but no longer tests positive for the virus, so we are so happy! We are also very pleased none of the other family contracted the virus. Dad said we all dodged a bullet. Um, I was not aware anyone had a gun at his party let alone shot it!

If you guys don’t mind I need to rant a little. I’ve had a really difficult week concerning my squirrel friend Rowena. It seems she drank some crazy juice and decided she is in love with me. I tried reasoning with her, pleading with her, threatening her, but nothing worked! I am frightened to go out on my own back porch for fear she will be out there like a crazy stalker waiting to ruin my day! Can you imagine a squirrel/dachshund romance? Oh my gosh, it reminds me of the ridiculous Kermit and Miss Piggy relationship, and I will run away from home before I ever get trapped into anything like that! Mom keeps telling me not to worry because no one can force me into anything, but mom doesn’t see Rowena chattering with all the other squirrels as if to plan my capture!

We have been watching the Great British Baking Show; we love it. I do have to say, however, I get very confused. If someone in the United States was asked to make a sponge, they would go to their sink, grab a cleaning rag and put it the oven to bake! If they were asked to make a clanger, I am quite sure they would find a bell, put it on high heat in the oven, shake their head and walk away! Who knows what they would do if they were asked to make bangers and mash! Yeah, we love the show but seldom know what in the world they are cooking!

It will be Halloween soon, but I won’t be doing anything special. Life is frightening enough for me. Mom tells me candy rots my teeth; I smile and tell her fine, I will take chicken instead. I hope you have a really lovely week until next we speak. I love you, my San Saba friends. Stay warm, keep safe and be kind to yourself and others. Thank you for being!
