Things that are strange about my parentals

I have heard it said with time, age makes things better…wine, cheese, some furniture, collectibles, and it is also said humans become wiser. My question would be, do we have firm data on that? I spend every second of every day with two humans I love dearly; they both are of considerable years, but wise, that is completely debatable.

Dad walked into the middle of the living room the other day, stood in total silence for a few minutes, looked at mom, looked at me, and seemingly asked the couch what he had come in the house to retrieve. Now I am not sure if for a moment he thought he was on a throwback show of Mr. Rodgers’ Neighborhood and thought the couch might respond, or he was really speaking into the air thus really asking himself, but it was extremely strange! Wishing to somehow make him feel better…I quietly said…“Your memory?” I suppose I do not have to tell you, my San Saba dears, my response did not go over too well.

Mom is not that much better. The woman takes a bunch of medication because of her heart…different blood pressure pills/blood thinners and such. Well, some pills she takes once a day, some twice and others three times a day, and has since her heart attack six years ago! The thing is…you would think she began yesterday because she forgets to fill her pill planner, doesn’t know when she is running out of certain ones, forgets where she puts the stupid things and even lets time get away for when she is supposed to take them! Look guys, I am a dachshund, and I know where all my toys are… how difficult can it be!

Want to know something I never say to my mom…“take a picture, it lasts longer.” Oh my goodness, if I said that to her, she would be the happiest person in the world! She tries to fool me, but she can’t…I am too smart for her. I know she didn’t suddenly develop a big black growth with a glowing light on her face! How insulting - she thinks I think that is just part of her body! In addition, the more she tries to get me to look at her, the more I look the other way until finally she gives up and puts the stupid camera away! What really upsets her is - then I do really adorable things she would love to have in pictures!

Well, my darling San Saba friends, I cannot believe we are already in the month of August. Please take special care, treat yourself with kindness, consideration and be diligent. I hope you have a very good week until next time we speak, and thank you for being!
