San Saba County Residents: Please Do Not Burn or Dump Flood Debris
We understand many residents are beginning the cleanup process after recent flooding. As debris removal begins, please be aware of the following important safety and environmental guidelines:
• Do NOT Burn Flood Debris Per the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), burning flood-related debris is strongly discouraged due to health hazards from mold, treated wood, plastics, insulation, and other contaminants. Burning this type of waste can release harmful pollutants into the air and pose serious risks to nearby homes and individuals.
• Do NOT Take Debris to Standard Waste Locations At this time, flood debris should NOT be brought to local landfills, dumpsters, or standard waste sites. These locations are not permitted to accept storm-related waste and doing so can lead to improper handling and environmental violations.
What You CAN Do Right Now?
We are actively working with emergency management and environmental partners to establish a compliant and safe flood debris drop-off location. Once confirmed, we will share details on:
• Location
• Accepted items
• Hours of operation
• Any necessary procedures for disposal We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work toward a solution that prioritizes safety, environmental protection, and public health.
Please continue to follow County Judge Jody Fauley, San Saba County Emergency Management, and the San Saba County Sheriff’s Office for official updates. Let’s keep working together to recover safely and responsibly.
