Volunteers set out on a nice, cool, fall morning, to collect litter around the community. Signs of rain did not stop the 39 volunteers who dedicated their time to make your community a cleaner, safer, more beautiful place to live. This small group did a great job collecting 14,860 pounds of litter from your community.
Breakfast treats and drinks were available for the volunteers, busting their energy for the task ahead. Volunteers were dispatched to the parks, highways, or neighborhoods to gather litter.
City crews collected rubbish from curbsides and transported the trash to the Recycling and Sanitation Department.
Others cleaned on their own, doing their part in beautifying their property.
The recycling challenge turnout was low, but KSSB is very grateful for the continued support of people recycling plastic bottles, especially students. The first-place winner of the challenge, Edwiin Tovias, continues to recycle, making this his third win in the challenges.
Other recycling included 82 passenger tires, keeping them out of the landfill and the community.
Around noon, the volunteers returned to headquarters (the City tent at the Courthouse) and enjoyed a grilled hamburger and fixings.
A few, GT, Brandon, Juanita’s crew, and James left with a gift card from a local restaurant.
