Miss Susan Wilton, sophomore candidate, was named Football Sweetheart by the Richland Springs Coyotes at their Homecoming game. Miss Edith Barina was presented as the Band Sweetheart. She had previously been elected to the honor. Miss Patty Pierce was selected as the Halloween Queen at the Richland Springs Halloween Carnival.
Prickley pear is the rose of the ranch lands these days. All who have them are busy burning the thorns off for their cattle. Sure looks like a long hard winter but a profitable one for the butane dealers.

The world's champion monster fights for his title against Godzilla in battles that shake the earth from the South Seas to the Pole. John Beck produced the Japanese-made film.
Mrs. R. H. Maxwell and Mrs. Hilly Walker of Cherokee, Mrs. Gordie Clark and Mrs. Ray Rawls and baby of San Saba visited with the Thos. Sloans.
The Brady B team raced over the B Armadillos by a score of 52-6 at Brady, according to Coach Larry Nettleship. San Saba's only score came in the third quarter of the game on a pass play from Jerry Oliver to Radow Keeney from the 15. Brady scored in all quarters of the game.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Conner, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Conner, Larry and Betty and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Clark Jr., Cynthia and Ernie attended the University High of Waco and Gatesville football game in Gatesville. Ira Conner, son of the Ernest Conner, is the head coach of the Waco team.
29 Years Ago November 4, 1993 San Saba first graders have been busy throughout October. In Mrs. Jones' Health class they have been studying safety and drug awareness. They enjoyed wearing different outfits showing their support of the drug-free week. Mrs. Gary's Social Studies classes went on a nature walk to look for signs of fall. The students learned about animals in Mrs. Walston's class. First grade also welcomes new students, Dewey Jones and Ruben Argote.
Congratulations from Ranger College to the San Saba Jr. High Cheerleaders. We were very pleased to have a group travel from San Saba to participate in the Third Annual Roaring Ranger Days. The San Saba Cheerleaders placed first in the Junior High competition. The members are Jessica Jimenez, Bonny Childress, Melissa Norris, Anne Theodosis, Chirstina Gonzales and Kassy Cantu.
Charles Key, Jr. , D.V.M. of San Saba received the Young Professional Award from the Aggie Club of Abilene Christian University. Key graduated from ACU in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in animal science. He earned a D.V.M. from Texas A&M University.
The San Saba High School Twirlers recently competed in the District UIL Twirling Contest held in Brady. Each girl received a I rating for her solo, and the group also received a I for their ensemble. This entitles the girls to compete in the State UIL competition held in the spring. Twirlers this year are Christi Carter, Jennifer McCoy, Marissa Arredondo, and Jennifer Wilder. Twirling sponsor is Judy McCoy.
Members of Boy Scout Troop 55 of San Saba braved the cold water of the South Llano river in Junction with their leaders Paul Beaver-Scoutmaster, Jim DeWitt-Assistant Scoutmaster and Rusty Bramblett-Troop Dad for an 18 mile canoe trip. Scouts on the trip included Donald Riggs, Jay DeWitt, Denver Poe, Kelly Keeny, Eric Wilson, Michael Murray, Kenneth Bauer, and John Stevens.
