Drill Team installation was held in the dining room of the Cactus Cafe with the theme of the banquet being "S.M.U. Bound." Mrs. Geneva Shaw installed the new officers including Sue Nance, president; Gale Phillips, vice-president; Mabel Ann Perry, secretary; Andrea Oliver, treasurer; Francene Shapiro, historian; and Linda Keeney, reporter. New members initiated were Adrienne Aubrey, Mary Ann Burnham, Vicki Chrane, Jane Sterner, Tana Rainbolt and Tama Longley.
Mr. and Mrs. Troy Hanson, and son, Bill, are the new owners of "Travelers Courts." "I like small towns," says Mr. H. Proof––they came from Morton, a West Texas town of 2,731 people, to cast their lot in San Saba with its 2,728 persons (last nose count). Lloyd D. Smith recently purchased two Aberdeen-Angus bulls from C. A. Heatherly, county rancher of Richland Springs area. The bulls are registered with the American Angus Association with headquarters at St. Joseph, Mo.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim McKinnerney of Richland Springs have announced the birth of a baby girl, Gwenell, seven pounds and seven ounces, born May 25 in Brady Hospital. The couple has two other children, Mackie and Teresa.
Charles Williams of Cisco Junior College will compete in the National Junior College tennis tournament at Joliet, Ill. A state doubles champion while in San Saba High School, Williams was singles runner-up to Bob Rader of Navarro County Junior College in the Texas JC tournament. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Williams of San Saba.
A new scoreboard was donated to the Little League Field in Mill Pond Park by Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Temple. George Jennings, local distributor, brought the scoreboard here and installed it at no cost. The board is located just outside the fence at center field and has large metal numerals to mark the scores.

Two San Saba natives received degrees from Howard Payne University during commencement exercises in May. Sharon Reeves of San Saba received the Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Barbara Drews, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. K.E. Drews of San Saba and a 1978 graduate of San Saba High School, received the Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Education.
A reception honoring Mr. and Mrs. J. Lee Daniel, who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this month, will be held in the banquet room of the Circle D Restaurant. J. Lee and Kewpie were married in Comanche May 27, 1933 by the Rev. Norman Broxton.
Tommy Lee Jones, professional actor and local rancher, will act as the grand marshal of San Saba County's 45th annual PRCA Rodeo parade which is scheduled to be held June 16.
Tana Burnham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Behrens and Mr. and Mrs. Teddy Burnham, received the coveted Fighting Heart award during the All-Sports Banquet. The boys' Fighting Heart award was given earlier this year to Darrin Barker and Scott Letbetter during the football banquet. Darrin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Barker and Scott is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Letbetter.
Senior Brad Thompson and sophomore Cheray Isham were honored as the Outstanding Boy and Girl Athletes of San Saba High School. The awards were presented at the All-Sports Banquet. Brad is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Thompson and Cheray is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Worth Isham. Both have been active in many phases of athletics during the 1982-83 school year.
