The annual Risien pecan party, given here for more than 20 years by Mrs. E. E. Risien and the late Mr. Risien, pioneer horticulturist, to the primary children of the San Saba schools, was held at the Risien home on Monday. Ordinarily the pupils are given all pecans which have been produced on the trees during the year, and which have been threshed prior to their arrival at the orchards, but this year the 500 or more pounds of nuts gathered by the children were sold and the more than $35 was turned over to the local chapter of the Red Cross.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Taylor entertained the young folks with a Hallowe'en party Saturday night.

Quite a few cotton pickers had to come home to spend the weekend this last week because the weather was too bad to camp out.
