The ceiling of the San Saba high school auditorium collapsed at noon Tuesday of last week just 12 minutes before 400 students were to have filed back into the room. The heavy steel, lath and plaster ceiling crushed many desks when it crashed upon them, and ceilings in lower classrooms were loosened. Before classes were resumed the following day, remaining fragments of the auditorium ceiling had to be ripped out, as well as the entire ceiling of a lower floor classroom. Repairs will not be made until school is out for the summer, Supt. W. M. Campbell has announced.

The city is placing a new drinking fountain for dumb animals southeast of the courthouse square. The old fountains on the west and east side of the square will be removed––they have been used as much for settees as they were used as fountains. The city dads should prohibit idlers sitting on the rim of the new fountain––it is very embarrassing for a tired animal to come up for a drink and be stared at by a bunch of idle rich, it is liable to make a gentle workhorse buck.

The senior class was entertained at an ice cream supper Tuesday night by the Business and Professional Club. The group first assembled on the creek near town and underwent an inspection. Providing they were seniors and wore their clothing backward, they were admitted to the festivities. Since everything was backward, refreshments were served first, and no girl received ice cream and cake until every boy had been served. The girls brought boys to the party and chose their partners to play the games. Everyone enjoyed the party and the seniors are looking forward to other such occasions in the near future.
