60 Years Ago October 25, 1965

Recent weekend visitors in the Alvin Stewart home were his son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Allen F. Stewart, Avis Ann, Don Allen, Melanie Rose and Ted Vaughn, of Houston, who came to give Mrs. Stewart a helping hand at the ranch and to see his father, who is ill in the local hospital.

Although San Saba Armadillos were the underdog in the battle against Llano Yellowjackets, they held them to a 13-13 draw at Llano Friday night. The first half of the game was Llano’s but the Armadillos came from behind, 13-0, in the last half and took over the game.

Paul Townsend and Angel Gamboa of San Saba High School, are putting a dog skeleton together. Gamboa has spent a great deal of time preparing the skeleton for mounting. Also in the science department Sandra Daniel is busy taking inventory on biological supplies.

Hendy D. Moore, past 80 years, was bitten by a rattlesnake when he was gathering pecans. Moore was raking back leaves under a pecan tree on the Minnie Kelly place, when a rattler, hidden underneath the leaves struck him on he back of the hand. Moore was rushed to the local hospital for treatment. He was resting and showing improvement in a couple of days. The rattlesnake had nine rattlers and was a good size snake.

50 Years Ago October 30, 1975

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Letbetter and family visited during the weekend with Dr. and Mrs. John Pelham and Phil Letbetter and families in Bryan and attended the Baylor and A&M football game.

Happiness is winning and this is just what the San Saba Varsity Girls Volleyball team have just accomplished against Marble Falls. Behind in the third and last game the San Saba girls battled back from a 13-7 deficit to win 15-13 in games played at San Saba. Unfortunately the Junior Varsity lost two games out of three.

Miss Ranita Roberds, Richland Springs Senior, has been named the Homecoming Queen for 1975. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Till and Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Roberds.

The 5th grade Band Class elected officers for the 1975-76 school term. Joe Romero has been named president, Donna Johnson, vice-president; Kynda Ellis, secretary; Kim Lusty, treasurer and Eddie Adams, reporter. Dwayne Bishop is the San Saba High School Band Director.

Mr. and Mrs. Pablo Flores are the parents of Roberto, eight pounds, eight ounces, born Oct. 22. And, Mr. and Mrs. Bernardo Moreno are the parents of Christina, eight pounds, born Oct. 22. Both babies were born at San Saba Memorial Hospital.
