Joe Allen Robertson, C. A. Mass and Cotton Thornton spent Saturday night on the river fishing. They had pretty good luck. They came home with three yellowcats weighing six, eight and ten and three-quarter pound.
Miss Nancy Walker, who is a student at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, went to San Antonio to do special work for three months in the state hospital.
Ryst Hendricks, new band director for the San Saba schools, arrived in San Saba last week and is beginning to shape the band for its first public appearance at the San Saba-Brady football game. Hendricks has 14 years experience as a band director.
Dick Felts, who arrived in San Saba following a tour of duty in England with the armed forces, took over his duties as assistant football coach and has been assigned teaching duties in the local schools. Felts is the son of Dr. and Mrs. R. C. Felts of San Saba.
60 Years Ago September 2, 1965
Miss Willie Turner, who resides in Sunset Heights in the southwest part of the city, killed a large rattlesnake on their place. The snake, which she killed with a garden hoe, had 10 rattlers and a button, she said.
Rev. and Mrs. Louis Petmecky are taking their vacation mostly at Lake Granite Shoals. Frank Sloan has loaned them his lodge there and we are sure the Rev. is enjoying some good fishing.
Mr. Clarence Tisdale of Barnett Springs Ranch, assisted by Thos. Sloan, picked a spot for the Indian Treaty Stone in the little roadside park between the Thos. Sloan home and the New Hope Presbyterian Manse.
Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Cisneroz of San Saba have announced the birth of a daughter, Sylvia, born August 24, weighing eight pounds and nine ounces.
After an absence of 22 years, Miss Geneva Swails has come home. In 1943, this San Saba native moved to Cisco. A retired shopkeeper and seamstress, she now lives on Dry street. Living with her is her sister, Miss Kinnie Swails. They both do handwork for pastime, and enjoy looking at their favorite television programs.
