Mrs. J. E. Odiorne and daughter, Arlene, and sons, Ralph, James and Creighton, went to Richland Springs to see the 2,000 head of cattle that Mr. Gibbons shipped to Oklahoma.
Shields Ketchum of Pilares Mexico, arrived this week to join his wife and children on a visit with his mother, Mrs. Henry Ketchum.
Mrs. W. F. Johnson and daughter, Miss Emalou, are making preparations to spend the summer with daughter and sister, Mrs. Fred Brown, at Guffey. Mrs. Johnson has leased her home to roomers.
Will Ashby has resigned his position with W. R. Harris grocery and has accepted a position as traveling salesman for the Loverin-Browne grocery firm of Chicago.
R. C. Turner has recently had a pretty new fence erected around his property on Wallace Street, which greatly adds to the appearance.
Mrs. Arma Walters has returned from a several weeks visit with her brother, Frank Baker, at his ranch home near Rochelle.

Mmes. Elery Lucas, George Boultinghouse, Johnson Kuykendall and Pete Journey entertained the Cherokee High School senior class, the faculty and a few invited guests with a banquet at the school building on the campus.
Garth Little, Seaman 2nd class, called his wife from the West Coast saying he would be home for a 30-day furlough.
Mrs. Hattie Richards of Richland Springs has a new wire fence built around the back of her lot and also a new “henery” built. E. L. Larrimore did the work.
Messrs. and Mmes. E. J. Thompson, John Grantham and A. P. Cherry and Miss Willie Mae Hall of McGregor were visitors in San Saba. They spent the week at Mr. and Mrs. Cherry’s cabin on the Colorado River near Colony.
Most of the farm wives in Bend are busy with young turkeys and chickens. Mrs. Dolphie Baxter sold her turkeys last fall and used the money for a yard fence. She got a party out of Brady to build it and it’s a swell job as far as it’s gone. Mose Millican is contemplating having him build him a rock house and other buildings. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Scott have their new home near completion.
The fruit crop is not as prosperous as first predicted as the late freeze affected them and they are still falling off. Some are waxey and will not be first class.
