The Kindergarten class, taught by Mrs. Earl Gatliff at her home on South High Street, is composed of 21 boys and girls. Mrs. Betty Miller assists Mrs. Gatliff in her teaching duties. Friday is 'Field Trip Day' for this group. They have visited the Corral Drive-In Theatre where the manager, Tommy Taylor, explained the operation of showing movies. Mr. Taylor showed a cartoon for the children and served each a snow-cone. On Halloween a Carnival was held at the school which included a fish pond, apple bobbing, pin the tail on the cat and other games. Various prizes were awarded. This class will be in Temple where they will appear on the 'Happy Hour,' a television program shown on KCEN, Channel 6.

BUBBLEGUM MAGIC? Did the cheering section ward off the evil spirits Friday night by chewing gum or something? The Armadillo football team made a good showing for themselves in the game with the Fredericksburg Billies. Nice going team, keep up the good work. Only two games to go and the 1963 season will be history.

Game Warden Norman Henk found a coon and the head and hide of a deer he found. He said some outlaw deer hunter is wearing Mr. Coon Hunter's clothes. Deer are being killed out of season, cattle shot and hunters say they are only hunting coons. He said he realizes the predator problem in the county; a family of coons can ruin a pecan orchard in a few nights; fox and other predators are becoming nuisances and need to be controlled. There is a lot of sport in varmint hunting so he asks hunters to phone him stating where and when they go varmint hunting. He reminds them to make arrangements with landowners to hunt on their land and asks for cooperation in eliminating outlaw deer hunting in the county.

Mr. and Mrs. Dick Clark were in Rockdale Friday night for the Rockdale - Caldwell football game. Their son, Tommy Joe Clark, is a member of the Rockdale team which to this date has won every game with only a safety and a field goal for 5 points scored against them.

The San SabaArmadillos won a thrilling ball game last Friday night over the Goldthwaite Eagles 20-14. The win puts the Armadillos on the edge of their first playoff berth since 1994. Only an Eagle upset of the favored Bangs Dragons in Bangs would keep San Saba out of the playoffs. It was the first time since 1988 that the Armadillos had defeated Goldthwaite at Eagle Stadium.

The Richland Springs Coyotes enjoyed more victories last week. On Thursday night the Jr. High boys beat out the Rochelle Hornets and finished their second undefeated season. On Friday night the varsity boys beat Rochelle with a score of 68-0 before halftime.

The San Saba Golden Armadillo Band competed in the annual UIL Marching Contest at Brady Bulldog Stadium. The band received a first division rating from the panel of judges. Due to a time penalty, the actual rating was dropped from a first to a second division. The program featured music from the James Bond movies. Music included Goldfinger, The James Bond Theme and Live and Let Die. Special thanks to the San Saba Administration, friends and family members who attended the contest in support of the Armadillo Band.
