Jesus is Coming

We have heard some tell us that because of the COVID virus and other things taking place that these are the signs of the end times. Some are telling us the prophecies of the Bible are coming true at this time. Well, let me get in on the discussion.

Jesus is coming again. At that point, time as we know it, will cease to exist. But when is that time? Today, a week, a month, a year, a hundred years, a thousand years? No one knows the answer to this question. There is only One who knows, and that is the Father in heaven. Listen to what Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 24:36, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.” (NASB)

Not even Jesus knows when that day shall be. But we can be assured of one thing—Jesus is coming again. He will come to take the church home to heaven, and Peter tells us, “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.” 2 Peter 3:10 (NASB)

Have you ever been robbed of something from your home? If so, did the thief call to let you know they were coming? Thieves do not do that. We know Jesus is coming, just not when. And we know that the earth and all in it will be burned up. Jesus will then take the church home to spend eternity with God. What a comforting thought!

The book of Revelation has been a major point when people are taking about end time things. To read this book, to some, is scary. But when you read through Revelation, keep this one thought in mind—there is victory in Jesus. No matter how horrible it seems, we see the Savior defeating Satan, and the followers of Christ are safe. What comfort this brings—or should bring—to everyone obeying the teachings of the Master.

The important thing for us today is that we must be prepared for that day, whether it is soon or many years from now. If you are not in Christ, then you have everything to fear. If you are following Him according to His teaching in the New Testament, there is nothing to fear. Do you believe in Jesus? Are you willing to repent of your sins? Are you willing to confess Jesus before men? Are you willing to be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins? This is what puts us into Jesus, Romans 6:3-4; Galatians 3:26-27. You have the opportunity to obey our Lord. If you haven’t done so, consider the urgency. If you did once follow Him but turned back, He is waiting with outstretched arms to receive you.
