Lieutenant Governor of Texas
Statement on the Passage of Senate Bill 15
Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick issued this statement April 14th, following the unanimous passage of Senate Bill 15, the Ban the Sale of Personal Data from Certain State Agencies Act, by Senator Robert Nichols, R-Jacksonville:
"I congratulate Sen. Nichols and the Texas Senate on the unanimous passage of Senate Bill 15 to protect the personal data and privacy of Texans. When Texans provide their personal information to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), or the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT), they have an expectation that their personal data won't be sold to marketing companies or bad actors. Senate Bill 15 will help guard against fraud and increase data privacy, and I am grateful to Senator Nichols for his hard work on this legislation."
Statement on the Passage of Senate Bill 18
Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick issued this statement April 15th, following the passage of Senate Bill 18, the Protect Second Amendment Businesses Act, by Senator Brandon Creighton, R-Conroe:
"During emergencies or disasters, Texans should not have to worry about the infringement of their Second Amendment rights. When Second Amendment businesses are under threat, we know that Texans' Second Amendment rights are also under threat. As long as I am Lientenant Governor, that will not stand. I am grateful for Senator Creighton and the Texas Senate for standing with me in defense of all Texans' Second Amendment rights."
