Central Texas Electric Coop modified the yearly district meeting for Board District 6 (San Saba County) that was scheduled for June 1st, 2020, by holding the meeting without public attendance, in adherence to COVID 19-related social distancing guidelines. Incumbent director James

Incumbent director James Low ran unopposed for the District 6 open board seat. Since CTEC bylaws do not allow nominations from the floor, and there are no quorum requirements for district meetings, the co-op held a small, non-public meeting on June 1st to elect Mr. Low as the District 6 nominee. No other coop business was conducted. Mr. Low will now be the District 6 nominee for the Board of Directors at CTEC’s Annual Meeting in August.

CTEC normally presents member meetings each June in all six board districts and, among other business, presents a video on the state of the co-op. Even though there were no publicly attended district meetings this year, CTEC still produced a 2020 district meeting video, which can be viewed on the co-op’s website at www.ctec.coop or on the coop’s Facebook page.

The video gives an explanation regarding the modifications made to this year’s district meetings, as well as changes to day-to-day operations that the co-op adopted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The video also provides information regarding a new Advanced Metering Infrastructure, or “AMI” system that CTEC will soon be implementing.

Out of an abundance of caution, CTEC’s Board of Directors made the decision to also hold the upcoming 2020 Annual Meeting without public attendance. “Our Annual Meeting is our most important event each year,” said CEO Bob Loth. “We will certainly miss visiting with members, seeing old friends, and making new ones.” Even though the public will not be able to attend the meeting in person, it is still important to conduct the Annual Meeting in accordance with bylaws to officially elect the district nominees to the Board of Directors. “It is very important that each member participate in this year’s annual meeting by returning their completed proxy to ensure that the quorum requirement set forth in the Articles of Incorporation is met,” said Loth. Proxies will be included in the August edition of Texas Co-op Power.
