Commissioners’ Court holds special called meeting Wednesday, December 2nd

The San Saba Commissioners’ Court met for a special called meeting on Wednesday, December 2nd, in the Commissioners’ Courtroom. In Judge Byron Theodosis’ absence, Commissioner Rickey Lusty called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Commissioner Kenley Kroll gave the invocation and led everyone in the pledges to the American flag and the Texas flag.

Audience for Concerned Citizens For Public Comment:

There was discussion about whether to have a San Saba County Employee Christmas party or not. The general consensus was not to have one this year due to already having a Benefits’ Day meeting/lunch this month and due to COVID.

There was discussion about the subdivision rules. It will be put back on the agenda for the December 13th meeting pending discussion and approval.

Special Action Items (and Non-Action Items):

1. Approve Order Authorizing Approval Of Proposed Janssen Texas State-Wide Opioid Settlement Agreement And Texas Subdivision Election And Release Form:

Mr. Lusty stated item needed to be approved and sent in this week. Ms. Kokernot told the Commissioners that the Judge asked them to approve this so it could be sent in on time. She contacted an attorney in San Antonio on this. This is the first payment ($4,236) of the Janssen settlement.

Decision: The Court unanimously approved the Proposed Janssen Texas State-Wide Opioid Settlement Agreement And Texas Subdivision Election And Release Form.

2. Discuss and Take Possible Action On COVID-19:

Ms. Hardy reported that as of November 29th, she will no longer be getting COVID dashboard numbers from the state to report. These numbers have been reported weekly on the San Saba Emergency Management Facebook page and also in the San Saba News & Star. She encouraged everyone to be sure and wash their hands.

Ms. Hardy reminded everyone of the Booster Clinic on December 16th. If you have never gotten a shot, you can also get your first shot at this clinic.

Ms. Hardy stated that DSHS is developing an app where you can take a picture of your vaccine card and it will be changed into a QR code. This will be easier to use if you have to travel outside of the country.

She told the Commissioners that if there are folks asking about pediatric vaccines, DSHS is willing to do outreach meetings to help inform the public on them and is willing to work with church groups and school groups and give them information on this.

3. Take Possible Action Concerning Burn Ban (Current Status: Burn Ban Lifted As of 10-07-2021):

Decision: After some discussion, this item was tabled.

4. Approve or Reject Proposed Amendments and/or Line Item Transfers:

None.

5. Approve or Reject Proposed Accounts Payable:

Decision: The Court unanimously approved the Proposed Accounts Payable.

6. Discuss Next Commissioners Court Date & Time:

The next Commissioners’ Court meeting is scheduled for December 13, 2021, at 9:00 in the Commissioners’ Courtroom.

7. Adjourn: Commissioner Lusty ad

Commissioner Lusty adjourned the meeting at 2:00 p.m.
