Commemorative Flag Journey

Santa Anna Mound

This is the Campground of the Mexican troops from September 29 to October 1, 1835, awaiting delivery of the Gonzales cannon. The Texans refused to surrender the cannon so on the third day the Mexican troops started retreating toward “Bejar” San Antonio. About five miles west of the Mexican camp, the Texians overtook them on October 2, and The Battle of Gonzales ensued with Texians as victors.

It is at this time Sion R. Bostick joined in with the others in the march to chase the Mexican Army from San Antonio.
