Accounts Payable Clerk Zane Churchill was selected as the Employee of the Month for August 2026. She was honored at the August 11th City Council meeting and presented with a dedicated with her name on it and a gift certificate to a local restaurant.
There were no public comments at the meeting.
The Consent Agenda Items were unanimously approved: July 14, 2026 meeting minutes and Budget Workshop; July 28th Budget Workshop Minutes; payment of bills; and approval of the following:
• Waiving the noise ordinance for Curz Salina on August 29, 2026, at Mill Pond Park,
• Temporary closure of a portion of North 6th Street from Wallace to 107 North 6th Street from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on October 4, 2026, requested by St. Mary's Catholic Church for their Fall Festival.
Discussion/Action Items:
The Economic Development Corporation Budget for FY 2026-2027 was unanimously approved. Tis was also unanimously approved by the EDC on July 27, 2026.
Ordinance No. 2026-08 was unanimously approved which included amending Chapter 13 Utilities to prohibit the disposal of animal carcasses in City Solid Waster Collection.
A Planning and Zoning Workshop consisting of Planning and Zoning members, City Staff, City Council, Professional HVAC/engineering occupation that could provide guidance to discuss issues related to prohibiting the placement of AC/Heat units above the city Right of Way Public Sidewalks regarding the health, safety, and welfare of the public were appointed. Those members include:
• Shawn Oliver, Mayor Pro-Tem, Chairman,
• Marcus Amthor, Alderman, Vice-Chairman,
• Devon Hoyt, Planning & Zoning Commission Member.
• Nick Taylor, P.E., Mechanical Engineer,
• Shane Moore, Code Enforcement Official.
The Council authorized Mayor Kenneth Jordan to submit a Letter of written testimony on behalf of the City of San Saba, Texas, to the House of Representatives State of Affairs Committee regarding a Public Hearing scheduled for 8:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 19, 2026 in Austin, Texas, regarding the 765-kV Transmission Lines concerning: Review the regulatory and planning processes regarding the proposed 765kV transmission lines.
City Manager's Report
City Manager Scott Edmonson gave a brief report on the following activities in the City of San Saba:
• the Public Utility Commission will meet on the 14th regarding the 765kV Transmission Lines;
• the San Saba County Rodeo is scheduled for August 21st and 22nd;
• KSSB Golf Tournament is scheduled for October 23rd;
• Dove Project Golf Tournament is September 12th;
• KSSB Fall Cleanup is tentatively scheduled for October 17th;
• will review the North San Saba Water District rates;
• had a meeting with the Mennonites today and they will putting the foundations in for the flooded rebuilds in the Fall, start the construction in January and complete by the end of March; the Mennonites will be meeting with the homeowners this week;
• FEMA recently moved the Golf Course to a large project;
• will be out the first part of September;
• the Polo Match at Fleming Springs Ranch is scheduled for September 12th.
