Laughter, water games, movie nights, and fellowship have made for a memorable start to summer at Cherokee Home.
We kicked things off during the last week of school by welcoming students from Cherokee ISD for Water Day at the campus splash pad, built in loving memory of former Executive Director Danny Duggan. Seeing the joy, laughter, and love shared by students, staff, and our community was truly special. We know Danny was smiling down on all of us as the campus came alive with happiness and togetherness. This is exactly the kind of spirit he cherished so deeply.
God has provided incredible blessings through the facilities and spaces that make moments like these possible. From the splash pad to the gathering areas where our children play, worship, and spend time together, every part of the campus helps create an environment where kids can simply be kids and feel safe, loved, and surrounded by care.
Creating meaningful experiences for our children is a priority for our house parents and staff, and their love and dedication shine through in all they do. One mom planned a movie night at the rec center complete with themed snacks for everyone to enjoy. Our dads organized campus games like volleyball on the lawn and “Blind Nuke ’Em” in the gym. The cottages are also taking turns hosting special Wednesday night devotionals on the circle. No matter the activity, each moment is an opportunity to laugh, connect, and grow together as a family.
As summer continues, we remain deeply thankful not only for the beautiful facilities entrusted to us, but for the purpose they serve each day, giving children a place where they can grow, heal, celebrate, and experience the love of a caring community.
