Bright Red Cannas highlight SSGC's June Yard of the Month

The San Saba Garden Club has selected the home at 1101 West Woodlawn, occupied by Madeline ('Maddie') Hartman, as its June Yard of the Month.

Although Maddie and her boyfriend moved to San Saba from Lampasas only five months ago and are renting the home, she has embraced the property as if it were her own. Since moving in, she has worked to restore the lawn by filling in bare spots, trimming trees, and planting a peach tree. Her efforts have transformed the yard into a healthy, wellmaintained landscape.

The most striking feature is a colorful stand of tall, neatly trimmed bright red cannas that provides a dramatic focal point across the front of the home.

When asked what she enjoys most about gardening, Maddie smiled and replied, 'Looking at a freshly cut lawn.' She and her father co-own Daddy and Daughter Lawn Care, based in Lampasas, making lawn care both a profession and a passion.

Even though she does not own the home, Maddie says she takes pride in where she lives and wants to do her part to help keep San Saba beautiful. The Garden Club congratulates Maddie on receiving this month's Yard of the Month recognition.
