If you walked through the courthouse halls on Monday this week, you would have seen San Saba County Extension Agent Neal Alexander cracking pecans getting them ready for the 2024 Pecan Show later that day.
He said some folks would come around lunch to shell samples of each batch for competition judges.
Mr. Alexander racalled that back in the “Heydey,” there would be 160 samples of pecans, but now there are only about 50 samples for judging.
The judges for the competition are Mills County Agent Tony Guthrie and Brownwood County Agent Scott Anderson.
