Archeologist will be excavating in the Barnett Clovis Field September 25th and 26th. Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) has marked more than 100 sites to be explored in a 14-acre sand field on Chambers Creek which is a tributary of the Pecan Bayou close to the Colorado River. Previously, a Clovis point and Clovis Polyhedral core were found in the field.

The Gault School of Archeological Research located near Florence, Texas, that has the largest number of Clovis artifacts in the United States, has hired Dr. Steve Howard, A PhD archeologist from Austin, to be the Principal Investigator on this project, and a group of archeologists have agreed to help with the project as well.

The work on the site will be also used to teach anyone who is interested in archeology to volunteer their time and work on the project. You can be involved at whatever level you want and get to work side by side with an experience archeologist.

The site can be driven to easily onto the ranch, and you can park by the field. There is also camping available if anyone would like to stay overnight and a porta potty.

You can email del5501@ centex.net for direction, time frames for work and other information.
