Saturday, June 17th, was a great evening to remember because I attended the Jefferson High School Alumni Banquet in Dresden, Ohio. It was an honor for me to be the speaker. Last year's speaker was in attendance, David Bice, U.S. Marines Major General, so I referred to the time when Queen Elizabeth shook his hand, and I reported that when my husband Larry and I were in Mexico, I shook the hand of a man running for Presidante' of the state of Tampalepas, Mexico. Sadly, he actually ran FROM the presidency because the cartel wanted someone else.
When I was preparing for the alumni banquet because I am President, I needed a cassette player to listen to the school Alma Mater because my portable player did not work. I asked neighbors, looked at yard sales, went to five stores, and none was available. On Saturday, the morning of the banquet, I put the cassette tape in my portable cassette/radio/CD player, and it worked! Evidently I had the tape in wrong. I am so embarrassed that I'm not telling anyone.
Last week, it was a joy to get a card from a dear friend in San Saba. On the front was 'A true friend knows the song in your heart and sings it when memory fails.' On the inside was written: 'Lord knows how I miss you and love you and thank Him for you in my life! Your friend, Shannon.' I am so thankful that we keep in touch with great memories and friendship.
